Ken Theisen, PE, President/Chief Technical Officer
Ken Theisen is the firm’s president and principal engineer. Ken holds a B.S.C.E. degree, which he obtained from Polytechnic Institute of N.Y. in 1981. He is responsible for operations, project management and final project review.
During the first seven years of his career, from 1981 to 1988, Ken was employed as a structural engineer for Ebasco Services and then Westinghouse, designing structural components for nuclear power plants in both Louisiana and Georgia.
In 1988 he, his wife and three sons, moved from Georgia to Raleigh NC, where he turned his efforts to the structural design of residential and light commercial buildings. In 1990 he formed Engineering Tech PA, a structural engineering design and consulting firm, based in Raleigh, NC. As president and principal engineer, Ken’s experience includes the structural design of buildings, such as hotels, religious, medical, office, retail and large single family and multi-family dwellings. Other responsibilities have included on-site resolution of construction problems and the investigation of non-catastrophic structural failures.
In the fall of 2012, and after 32 years of engineering experience, Ken and colleague Ralph Sigler, PE, partnered to establish Engineering Tech Associates, PA. Ken met Ralph in 2004, when Ralph began his engineering career with Engineering Tech, PA. Ken, Ralph and their staff of engineers continue to remain dedicated to providing the most cost-effective structurally sound product to their clients, which include architects, residential design groups, contractors, subcontractors, and project owners.
